Dear colleagues,

On behalf of all CHIN staff, I would like to welcome you to the microsite dedicated to CHIN's upcoming 2010 Digital Heritage Symposium, one of the special cultural events leading up to the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

The theme is 'Making the Connection: Museums, Visitors and New Technologies', and our program will focus on how the latest in new technologies is providing a fresh perspective on the delivery and sharing of Canadian heritage content. Whether you will be joining us in person or via our live webcast, you can look forward to thought provoking presentations on digital art, online youth culture, preservation, and mobile technologies.

As a national centre of excellence striving to connect more than 1,350 museums to each other and their audiences through digital technologies, we recognize the value of interdisciplinary exchanges in bringing new ideas to life. Our presenters will represent the diverse expertise and perspectives found in both heritage and academic circles.

I would like to thank our partners for helping to make this event possible, in particular: the 2010 cultural Olympiad and its Digital Edition (CODE); and the University of British Columbia's Museum of Anthropology, one of our network's dynamic members.

Stay tuned to www.chin.gc.ca/symposium2010 for regular program and logistical updates over the coming weeks and months. Our symposium promises to follow in the tradition of other recent CHIN gatherings, extending new bridges of dialogue and cooperation between leading Canadian heritage professionals and their counterparts at home and around the world. We hope you will be a part of it - in person or virtually!
